POEMS: Welcome Back to School

Hip-hip horray!

I'm in the first day of Middle School today.

Excited and nervous.

I could not wait to get ready soon

even though it was still at 5 AM.

Having breakfast at 5.30 AM

and waiting for the school bus coming at 7 AM.

My mom got mad.

I woke up too early.

Made her wake up too early, too.

She said tomorrow I had to set up the alarm at 5.45 AM

instead of 5 AM.

In the bus I took a seat by myself at the front.

Everybody was so quiet.

No talk, no laugh, no smile

and I was busy with my own thought.

When I came back from school

My mom asked me so many questions.

But I only had one response,

"Mama, I could not open my locker."
